Pinot Grigio Vigna 'Castel Ringberg' 2021
South Tyrol DOC
The Renaissance castle of the Vigna 'Castel Ringberg', built by the Habsburg dynasty in 1620, towers above Lake Kaltern and is surrounded by the vineyards of the single
vineyard site. A 'Vigna' is an additional designation of origin; the term stands for a precisely delineated and mapped vineyard. The vineyards of the Vigna 'Castel Ringberg',
which alternate between moderate and steep slopes, are located at a unique intersection of three different soils: in the west, the dolomite rock of the Mendel mountain ridge
accompanies the vineyards, while the steep slopes consist of 30,000-year-old gravel from the ice-age river Adige. In the southern and central parts, the larger areas consist
of loose limestone rubble, which aerates the vine roots well. In addition, the mildness of Lake Kaltern, coupled with strong afternoon southerly winds, allows for gentle,
natural cultivation with deliberately small-scale production. The microclimate and geological conditions at an ideal altitude of 330 to 400 metres above sea level offer optimal
conditions for wines of incomparable character.
'A strong, clear straw yellow characterises the Pinot Grigio Vigna 'Castel Ringberg'. A multi-layered, complex variety of aromas of fruits, especially ripe pears, some sage
and lime blossom as well as spicy notes characterise the bouquet. Structure and elegance, power and harmony dominate on the palate, combined with creamy richness
and density. A Pinot Grigio with a lot of character!'

LESE 2021: we are looking forward to a vintage of outstanding quality, especially for our white wines! A dry and cool spring led to a late flowering of the vines, followed by a
warm and dry June. After a volatile midsummer, there was a surprising change in the weather in mid-August, which brought dream weather until the end of September and
created the very best conditions for optimal ripening of the grapes. The harvest began in mid-September, about 10 days later than last year. Blue skies and lots of sunshine
as well as midsummer daytime temperatures and autumnally cool nights enabled the grapes to reach ideal sugar levels while retaining very good acidity. Accordingly, the
wines of the 2021 vintage show a markedly high quality.

VINIFICATION: Soft pressing, static clarification.
