Pinot Noir 2012 ROCCOLO...

LUDWIG BARTH VON BARTHENAU
Vigna Roccolo
A Pinot Noir whose dark ruby-red colour already hints at its enormous concentration. In the glass, it soon reveals its aromatic depth: multi-faceted aromas of sour cherries
and cranberries, accompanied by delicate vanilla tones and fine oak. On the palate, it is very elegant and convinces with its precise acidity, velvety tannins and an
impressively long finish. The Vigna Roccolo is, together with the Vigna S. Urbano, another small parcel and valuable cru of our vineyards in the Mazon site. In this heart of
Mazon, there was already a Burgundy vineyard at the time of the vineyard's previous owner, Ludwig Barth von Barthenau, which stood next to a 'Roccolo', a historic bird-
catching site. This Pinot Noir reflects the enormous potential of this unique site, where vines grow that are 70 years old.Only the classification 'Vigna' guarantees the origin
of a site wine in South Tyrol.
HOFSTÄTTER CLASSIFICATION: Site wine
GRAPE VARIETY: Pinot Noir
SOIL: Conglomerate of clay, limestone and porphyry soils.
VINIFICATIONAND RIPENESS: After the manual harvest, the grapes are destemmed and the individual berries are selected once again on a table in additional manual work.
After a short, cool maceration to refine the fruit bouquet, the wine ferments for about 10 days at a constant temperature of 28°C.The maturation extends over three different
phases: in the first phase the wine is aged for about 12 months in small oak barrels, then after the assemblage it matures for about another 6 months in large oak barrels
and after bottling it is stored for another 12 months in the cellars of the Ansitz Barthenau.
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 14° -16° C
Serving Suggestions: red meats, game, mild cheeses.
BARTHENAU
VIGNA S. URBANO PINOT NOIR

A Pinot Noir whose dark ruby-red colour already hints at its enormous concentration.
If the nose is still somewhat closed at first, it soon releases its aromas in the glass, which are reminiscent of the multi-faceted bouquet of classic Burgundies.
The enveloping scent of sour cherries and raspberries is underlined by delicate vanilla tones and fine spicy notes.
On the palate, it is very well balanced and convinces with its elegant acidity, well-integrated tannins and an impressively aromatic concentration.

The Barthenau Vigna S. Blauburgunder 2018 Meczan...

MECZAN
Pinot Noir

The Meczan is a very varietal Pinot Noir, which is characterised above all by its softness, its distinctive fragrance and its clear fruity character. It has a vivid ruby red colour
with slight garnet reflections. Fresh, animating bouquet with seductive notes of wild berries and cherries. On the palate, the Meczan presents itself very harmonious and
distinctly juicy with intense fruity notes. Pinot Noir was first successfully cultivated in Trentino-South Tyrol at the beginning of the 19th century. It soon became apparent that
the gentle hills and the special microclimate of the high plateau in Mazon offered the ideal conditions for producing Pinot Noir of international calibre.
HOFST CLASSIFICATION: Selection
GRAPE VARIETY: Pinot Noir
SOIL: Conglomerate of clay, limestone and porphyry soils
VINIFICATION: 75% of the grapes are destemmed, 25% enter the fermentation tank intact. Lagrein Steinrafflerhof...

STEINRAFFLER
VIGNA LAGREIN

A wanderer between worlds. On the one hand dense and concentrated and almost rustic in a pleasant way, it nevertheless reveals a certain elegance. The colour is deep
dark and garnet red with an almost black core. The bouquet reveals a mixture of earthy-mineral and spicy notes. The initially delicate fruit develops increasingly in the glass
and is reminiscent of dark, ripe plums. On the palate, the spice components continue, with the finish gaining in complexity due to the mineral notes that emerge once again.

This grape variety, unique to South Tyrol, finds very good growing conditions in the vineyards of our Steinraffler winery. Here, in 1990, we planted the short-stemmed Lagrein,
a variety that had almost fallen into oblivion in South Tyrol, grafted it onto weak-growing rootstocks and grew it on wire frames. The rebirth of this old, autochthonous red wine
variety represents for us a happy combination of tradition and innovation.

In South Tyrol, only the 'Vigna' classification guarantees the origin of a site wine.

Grape variety: Lagrein
Soil: Loam and sandy soils
Vinification: After delivery, the destemmed grapes enter the fermentation tank. After a short maceration, the mash is fermented for about 10 days.
Maturation: It matures for 15 months in small oak barrels, another 7 months after the assemblage in large oak barrels and at least 12 months in the bottle.
Food recommendation: Red meats, game, mild cheeses.
Réserve del Conte '18 BIO...

Réserve del Conte - the red estate wine.

A wine that tastes like Manincor; a wine that cannot be found anywhere else. The essence of the hills around the winery and the lake, full of strength and warmth.

Grape varieties: Lagrein 35 %, Merlot 40 %, Cabernet 25 %.
Colour: bright, dense ruby red.
Aroma and flavour: fruity on the nose with hints of small berries, later spicy with hints of liquorice, white and black pepper. Dense on the palate with firm but fine tannin,
Burgundian in its drinking flow.
Site and soil: Manincor and Panholzerhof, both south-eastern slopes at 250 m above sea level with lake views, with strong, sandy loam soils, interspersed with limestone
gravel and other glacial rock deposits. These vineyards are among the warmest sites in South Tyrol and are predestined for great red wines.
Vinification: Each batch was vinified separately, always with maceration, partly spontaneously with the grape's own yeasts in wooden, concrete and stainless steel vats. The
maceration lasted ten days and was carried out carefully. It was only macerated once a day to obtain fine-grained, filigree tannins. Freshness and finesse are the top
priorities. The wine was aged for twelve months in used barriques.
Serving temperature: 16 -18 °C.
Goes well with: spicy, Mediterranean starters; roasted and grilled (red) meat.
Mason 2017 Bio MANINCOR 750ml

Mason - the sensitive companion.

It nestles silkily against the skin, cherries, blackberries and roses linger for a long time, and the coveted Pinot Noir makes the mind sensual at the right time.

Grape variety: Pinot Noir.
Colour: bright, rich ruby red.
Aroma and taste: Raspberries and cranberry fruit, some rose petals and liquorice, ripe in fruit and fresh in spice, fruity and delicate on the palate, velvety and at the same
time firm from the tip of the tongue to the finish.
Site and soil: Mazzon, called 'Mason' by us to avoid confusion with the larger site above Neumarkt. Four hectares are planted with Pinot Nero in this unique site: a south-
facing plateau at 400 - 450 m above sea level, sunny and constantly exposed to the wind. Ideal conditions for the tightly berried Pinot grapes. The soil is sandy loam and
interspersed with various stones: Dolomite, porphyry, gneiss and granite can be found from small grains to fist-sized stones.
Vinification: Each batch from the different parcels was vinified separately. The maceration took place in wooden vats, spontaneously with the grape's own yeasts. Maceration
lasted two weeks, with the marc cake being macerated once a day. The 12-month wooden barrel ageing took place in barriques, with only 10% new wood and the wine
remaining on the fine lees for the entire time. Only then were the individual parcels blended, selecting the best barrels from the highest parcel with the oldest vines for Mason
di Mason.
Serving temperature: 16 -18 °C.
Pairings: roasted and grilled (red) meats, game and matured soft cheeses.
