Lagrein DOC Elena Walch...

Lagrein 2021
South Tyrol DOC

VINEYARDS: 100% Lagrein
VINIFICATION: traditional maceration of 10 days at controlled temperature in steel barrels. Subsequent malolactic fermentation in large 70hl and medium 22hl wooden
barrels of French and Slavonian oak. This is followed by further ageing in wooden barrels.

DEGUSTATION: the Lagrein Elena Walch invites with an intense and dense garnet red colour. The multi-layered bouquet captivates with discreet spicy aromas, with cocoa
as well as wild berries and heart cherries in the background. A distinctive
tannin structure, supple fullness, a playful rustic elegance and youthful freshness as well as a juicy, long finish convince on the palate.

TERROIR: warmer sites on chalky soils with clay and sand on both sides of the ridge, facing southeast and southwest. Hand-picked and selected with the utmost care.

LESE 2021: we are looking forward to a vintage of excellent quality, especially for our white wines! A dry and cool spring led to a late flowering of the vines, followed by a
warm and dry June. After a volatile midsummer, there was a surprising change in the weather in mid-August, which brought dream weather until the end of September and
created the very best conditions for optimal ripening of the grapes. The harvest began in mid-September, about 10 days later than last year. Blue skies and lots of sunshine,
as well as summery daytime temperatures and autumnally
cool nights enabled the grapes to reach ideal sugar levels while retaining very good acidity. Accordingly, the wines of the 2021 vintage are of exceptionally high quality.

Serving suggestions: with strong dishes such as game, dark meat and piquant cheeses.

Designation: South Tyrol DOC
Residual sugar: 4,0 g/L
Alcohol: 13,50 % Vol.
Shelf life: 5-7 years
Total acidity: 5,2 g/L

Harvest: Harvested by hand with the utmost care
Pinot noir Riserva DOC 2017...

'The Pinot Noir 'Aton' expresses timeless finesse and elegance. The wine presents itself in a strong ruby red in the glass. Subtle notes of black berries, a hint of liquorice
and fine smoked notes determine the bouquet, whereby power and highest elegance are combined in this extraordinary wine. With density, black berries and minerality
combined with fine and fresh tannins, the 'Aton' convinces on the palate with a spicy, long finish. An elegant Pinot Noir full of character, produced with the utmost
dedication and detail to do justice to this noblest of varieties with uncompromising quality.'

With a small number of 2,735 bottles produced, Elena Walch's highest perfection of Pinot Noir appears: 'Aton', after the ancient Egyptian sun god, who, represented in a
pure, life-radiating sun disk, rose above every other divine being. As an abstract idea and spiritualised concept, Aton is the source of light and life and thus perfection itself.
The 2017's vintage of 'Aton' Pinot Noir Riserva Südtirol DOC comes from the selection of the best grapes in middle and higher altitudes between 400 and 600m a.s.l. The
vines, which are up to 61 years old and have a greatly reduced yield, are located on both sides of the valley and benefit from the complex, predominantly clay and limestone
soils with traces of marl.
The higher the mountain profile, the more light, sunshine hours and freshness reach the vineyards. Long hours of sunshine in a nevertheless fresh climate and large
day/night temperature differences result in a Pinot Noir of great elegance with a fresh and expressive presence.
The selection of the two highest quality plots in an ideal combination of orientation and altitude allow for a higher phenolic grape ripeness without excessive sugar content
and a natural medium to higher acidity, which distinguishes the 'Aton' Pinot Noir Riserva 2017 with structure, elegance and finesse. 'Aton' sends you on a unique sensory
journey that involves the senses in discovering its personality. A journey that tells the story of South Tyrol and delights lovers of Pinot Noir.

VINIFICATION
The harvest took place on 09 September 2017, followed by gentle grape processing in a new, state-of-the-art fermentation cellar using gravity. The grapes were gently
transferred in whole cluster form in small 'cuvons' to the small fermentation tanks, thus maintaining the delicate structure and quality of the vintage in its natural form.
This was followed by a 5-day cold maceration and fermentation at a controlled temperature of 23° for a further 15 days in small steel tanks. After a further 12 months of
ageing in French oak barriques with medium toasting, the wine rested and matured in steel for a further 11 months.
The slow and gentle processing was carried out in respect of the original quality of the grapes and, following the same principle, the wine was finally bottled on 22 August
2019 without filtration to preserve its exceptional structure and maintain its natural colloidal composition.
During the subsequent 15 months of bottle ageing, the 'Aton' Pinot Noir Riserva 2017 will quietly continue to develop the broad spectrum of its potential until it is released
on the market from 4 October 2021.
The Grande Cuvée can achieve a considerable lifespan during which the wine matures and develops.

Alcohol: 14.00 % vol.
Total acidity: 6.0 g/L
Residual sugar: 0,3 g/L
Denomination: South Tyrol DOC
Cabernet/Sauvignon 2019...

Campaner Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva DOC 2019

Vintage: The weather conditions make the 2019 viticultural year a challenge for our winegrowers. A relatively mild winter and early spring were followed by a wet and cool
April and May. After flowering, which did not occur until June, the weather situation turned around and it became hot and dry. Late summer delayed the ripening of the
grapes with some rainfall and below-average temperatures. Harvesting of the healthy grapes began in early September and continued until the end of October.

Tasting notes:
- dark ruby red
- ripe blackberries, sour cherry and chocolate on the nose
- rich attack with gripping tannin, lots of fruit and melting on the palate
- long finish

Recommendation: try it with red meat, game, strongly spiced poultry dishes or hard cheese.

Vinification: maceration at 28°C, maceration for two weeks, malolactic fermentation and ageing for 16 months in barriques (1/4 new), light filtration before bottling.

Vineyard: south-facing slopes with a Mediterranean maritime climate between 250 and 350m above sea level, where this late-ripening grape reaches optimal physiological
maturity.
