Grown on old vines in a divine vineyard near Lake Kaltern, its own 'Vigna'. Its<br />terroir and traditional ageing in wooden barrels give rise to a multi-layered aroma of Amarena cherries, redcurrants and violets with a hint of almonds. The elegant body is<br />evident on the palate. The wine is refreshing and carries soft tannins. The finish is fruity and long.<br /><br />Hand-picked and selected grapes from the historic 'Bischofsleiten' vineyard. Destemming of the grapes and mash fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless<br />steel tanks. Lagrein, genetically related to Syrah, is the oldest autochthonous grape variety in South Tyrol. In the hot, deep vineyards in the south of South Tyrol, the heat-loving<br />Lagrein finds its suitable habitat.<br />The FRAUENHÜGEL has a seductive fruitiness of wild berries, elderberries, black cherries and cocoa beans. The wine is enriched with balsamic tannins during ageing in<br />barrique barrels. The noble roasted aromas and the vital acidity are harmoniously combined with the powerful fruit body. The clayey soil is responsible for its typical terroir<br />characteristics, which lend the fruity finish a piquant spiciness (liquorice) and its individual earthy note.<br />FRAUENHÜGEL: the powerful one.<br /><br />Grape variety: Lagrein<br />Vinification: Temperature-controlled fermentation in red wine tanks and ageing in French barriques for 12 months. An enduring finish goes hand in hand with silky tannins<br />that elevate the wine's elegance.<br />THE 2023 GROWING SEASON<br />2023 was a challenging vintage in Bolgheri that, however, benefitted from Nature's benevolence during key<br />moments of the growing season. Winter was mild with relatively high temperatures and average rainfall that<br />resulted in early plant growth. Spring brought abundant rainfall that helped fill up water reserves for the summer,<br />but which also called for meticulous work in the vineyard. A hot summer saw high temperatures, albeit without<br />reaching any extremes, alongside rains that helped offset water stress in the vineyards. This enabled the grapes to<br />ripen gradually and regularly, allowing the berries to achieve high concentration.<br />Rainfall in late August and cool September nights helped aromatic complexity development and preserved the<br />acidity of the wine, resulting in a proper balance between power and elegance.<br />V INIFICATION AND AGEING<br />The different varietals were fermented separately in small steel tanks to maintain their characteristics. The alcoholic<br />fermentation was followed by malolactic fermentation, again in steel tanks. The wine was then aged for 10 months,<br />partly in barriques used previously for Ornellaia and partly in concrete tanks, to obtain the perfect balance between<br />tannic structure and the expression of fresh fruit.<br />

Description: Deep and concentrated fruit, aromas of blackcurrant, cocoa, cinnamon and vanilla as well as velvety tannins make up this full-bodied yet elegant cuvée.<br />Ageing potential: 10 - 15 years.<br />Recommended food: Meat dishes of all kinds, especially red meat and game dishes as well as mature cheese.<br />Serving temperature: 16° C.<br />Grape variety: 80% Merlot - 20% Cabernet. Older trellised vines (15 - 20 years), planting density 5,000 vines/ha.<br />Sites: vineyards at 250-430 m a.s.l., moraine rubble deposits and porphyry weathered soils, south-west facing.<br />Vinification: Must fermentation followed by maceration for 7-10 days, malolactic fermentation in barriques. In spring, first racking with assemblage of the two varieties and<br />further ageing for 14 months in small oak barrels. Gentle coarse filtration and filling. The grapes for this aromatic wine, of a delicate straw yellow colour and with a complex, elegant and musky bouquet, ripen in vineyards well exposed to the sun, from south<br />to south-west, and bring sweetness, flavour and a very long aromatic persistence to the glass, reminiscent of the flavours and aromas of ripe grapes.<br />It ideally accompanies desserts and in particular creams, fruit tarts and small pastries.<br /><br />TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION:<br />Vineyard exposure: east-south to south-west.<br />Soil composition: clayey-tufaceous soil rich in limestone, which enhances the finesse and aromaticity of the wines, very important for this grape variety.<br />Vine density: 4800 vines per hectare.<br />Type of training: low plant with simple guyot, tending to bring the leafy part upwards, in order to expose the bunches to the sun and encourage photosynthesis on the<br />leaves. A maximum of 8/9 fruit buds are left.<br />Harvest: 1st or 2nd decade of September, picked by hand.<br /><br />ORGANOLEPTIC DATA SHEET:<br />Denomination: Moscato d'Asti DOCG<br />Grape variety: Moscato<br />Colour: more or less deep straw yellow.<br />Perlage: fine and persistent.<br />Bouquet: rich, intense and fragrant aroma of the Muscat grape reminiscent of wisteria, peach, apricot with hints of sage, lemon and orange blossom.<br />Taste: sweet, delicate, fresh flavour with moderate alcohol content.<br />Serving suggestions: Serve chilled, with dessert, with various pastries, as a thirst quencher at any time of day. PRIMITIVO DI MANDURIA DOP<br />Sessantanni<br />Typology: Red<br />Grape variety: Primitivo<br />Denomination: Primitivo di Manduria DOP<br />Cultivation: Trees at least sixty years old<br />Planting density: 5,000 vines per hectare<br />Production area: Valle del Sessantanni, about 40 hectares between San Marzano and Sava (TA). The thermal values characterise a rather warm environment with very low<br />annual rainfall and very high temperature variations, which has a positive effect on the quality of the grapes. This is the classic growing area for Primitivo di Manduria PDO.<br />Soil: Red residual soil with a fine texture, calcareous substrate and sparse rock outcrops. The famous red hue of these soils is due to the high content of iron oxides.<br />Harvest: Mid-September<br />Vinification: Hand-picking of slightly overripe grapes; destemming and maceration, maceration at 8°C for 24-48 hours before fermentation. Thermally controlled maceration<br />and alcoholic fermentation with selected yeasts for about 10 days at 24-26°C. Final bottling with soft presses.<br />Maturation: Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks followed by 12 months in French and American oak barriques.<br />Organoleptic characteristics: Very deep and elegant ruby red colour; rich and complex bouquet, fruity with notes of plums, cherry jam with a slight spiciness and hints of<br />tobacco. A wine of great body, soft and rich in noble tannins, with a finish that offers notes of cocoa, coffee and vanilla.<br />Pairings: Strong first courses, red meat and game.<br />Serve at: 18°C<br />

The head of character.<br />The perfect symbiosis of tradition and modernity.<br /><br />IN THE VINEYARD<br />The grapes of our classic Lagrein ripen in the vineyards in the sun-drenched basin of Bolzano at an altitude of 260 m, deeply rooted in sandy alluvial soils with a southern<br />exposure.<br />IN THE CELLAR After temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel at 28°C for 8 days, the wine is then matured in large wooden barrels of 30 - 50 hl.<br /><br />Colour: strong purple red<br />Aroma: invitingly open and complex with notes of violets, chocolate, ripe plums and spices<br />Taste: elegant with a velvety structure, densely woven tannins and light bitter almond tones.<br />Alcohol: 13.50 % vol.<br />Acidity: 4.80 g/l<br />Residual sugar: 2.40 g/l<br /><br />TASTING NOTES<br />This Lagrein has a strong purple colour. The nose is invitingly open and complex with notes of violets, chocolate, ripe plums and spices.
