The deep soils on which<br />these vineyards are cultivated contribute to perfumed and elegant wines with a light and delicate tannic texture.<br /><br /><br />Technical notes<br />Varietal: Sangiovese<br />Alcoholic grade: 13.5%.<br />Maturation: in oak barrels<br />Vinification and maturation<br />Once harvested, the Sangiovese grapes were fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. During this phase, cap breaking was of fundamental importance,<br />allowing perfect extraction of the polyphenolic substances. Subsequently, the wine spent a period of maturation in the cellar, part of it in wood. Further time in bottle<br />completed its qualitative course before release for consumption.<br />

NOTES ON THE YEAR<br />The winter of 2022 was characterised by low temperatures and almost no rainfall. Budding took place in the first week of April, on average with previous vintages. Spring<br />continued with above-average temperatures that favoured vegetative development and early flowering. May and June were dry with classic summer temperatures. The rains<br />that arrived at the end of July and August allowed the vines to ripen in a balanced and constant manner. The nose is pleasantly fruity, with small red fruits and spices. On the palate it is refined and round,<br />the tannins are in perfect balance with the acidity. All these characteristics result in a Rosso di Montalcino of great finesse and complexity.<br />HARVEST<br />Manual, in the first ten days of September.<br />AGEING PERIOD<br />8 months in casks<br />ALCOHOL CONTENT<br />14%<br /><br /><br />VINIFICATION<br />Manual selection of the bunches before destemming and<br />selection of berries with an optical selector. Followed by<br />spontaneous fermentation without the use of added yeasts and<br />maceration assisted by frequent punching-down. Straw yellow colour with greenish highlights. Complex, very fine bouquet, with pleasant fruity notes of citrus and peach.<br />Dry, pleasantly fresh flavour with a good, balanced structure.<br />Pairings<br /><br />Excellent as an aperitif and with fried prawns or escalopes alla livornese.<br /> <br /><br /> <br />More Info<br /><br />The most known and traditional Altemasi label is the Millesimato, sparkling Traditional Method Blanc de Blancs, whose mark is the elegance obtained from the long<br />maturation on the yeasts (over 24 months). Elegance and finesse are linked to the fruity and mineral bouquet.<br />Tasting Notes<br /><br />Persistent foam with minute fine-grain perlage. Straw yellow colour, with very faint greenish tinges. Complex, highly refined nose, fruity, mineral,with light notes of bread<br />crust.
