TYPOLOGY: Port PRODUCTION AREA: Douro VINE: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Roriz and others. VINIFICATION: Niepoort Tawny comes from vineyards in the Cima Corgo region of the Douro Valley. The grapes are pressed in the traditional way with subsequent maturation in small, old oak barrels in the lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia. COLOUR: bright brick red BOUQUET: The bouquet is composed of fragrant aromas of red fruits and light nuances of dried fruits. PAIRINGS: Excellent to drink at the end of a meal during dessert, combined with chocolate desserts. It can become a perfect aperitif wine if served slightly chilled, perhaps together with pâté or foie gras. TASTE: The palate is well balanced, with notes of unripe fruit. Very long persistence AGING: minimum 3 and a half years.
