Chardonnay DOC Lafoa 2024...

Chardonnay DOC Lafoa 2024...

Chardonnay LAFÓA
Alto Adige Chardonnay DOC

The grapes for this Chardonnay grow on old vines with very small yield. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 400 to 550 m a.s.l. on dry morainic soils. A sinewy but elegant Chardonnay with great potential for aging. Tasting notes: Of a pale intense straw yellow colour tinged with green nuances; a full but well- integrated wine, imbued with honeydew melon, creamy fruit salad and nutty aromas; ample acidity with a delicate underlay of oak on the palate and a long, luscious finish.

Cellaring potential: 6-10 years.
Food Combination: This full-bodied wine is perfect on its own, but an incredible complement to rich fish dishes such as poached skate with mint cream sauce, Dover sole, Cicatelli pasta with fresh crab, stirfried scallops with ginger and the perfect partner to chicken and veal.

Serve lightly chilled: 12-14° C.
Grape Variety: Chardonnay; old espalier-trained vines. Location: Selected vineyards at an altitude of approx. 400-550 m a.s.l. A very dry site, medium-structure morainic soils with a sand and gravel composition; the microclimate is cool, with striking contrasts between day and night time temperatures.

Yielding: 49 hl/ha
Winemaking: Grapes are pressed without being destemmed; fermentation takes place in a combination of new and used oak barriques, where partially malolactic fermentation also takes place. The wine refines on its fine lees for 10 months, and regular battonage is carried out. Further 6 months of bottle-aging before release.

Exilissi SELL Spätl....

Exilissi SELL Spätl....

Exilissi Sell 2007

Vintage: After an exceptionally mild winter, the vines sprouted earlier than ever before. April and May were also warmer than average, so that by mid-May the flowering was
already over in all locations. This 3-week advance in vegetation lasted until harvest. The cool August and a golden September proved it once again: The last weeks before
the harvest are decisive for the quality.
Whites and reds were able to ripen perfectly and were harvested at the optimal time. That is why the harvest took longer than ever before. The first grapes entered the
cellar on 21 August, the last on 24 October. All in all, it should be a very good vintage. The red wines promise to be the best of the last ten years.

Vinification: gentle pressing of the delicate grapes. Fermentation of the unclarified must in 500 l tonnequx, further 15 months of maturation in the same barrel. Bottled in
March 2009

Harvest conditions: a sunny and warm late autumn allowed the grapes to hang until mid-November, thus enabling the harvest of a very ripe grape.

Site/soil: Höfl unterm Stein in Söll near Tramin, situated on a south-eastern slope at 480 to 550 metres above sea level. On gravelly, loamy calcareous gravel soil, there are
both 30-year-old pergola plants and wire frames that are over 10 years old, which produce something unique with an extremely low yield of 25hl/ha.

Oenologist's notes: an enormously concentrated late harvest with intense aromas of sultanas, apricots and spices. Very smooth and long on the palate. Mineral components
can be found in the finish.

Variety list: 100% Gewürztraminer
Alcohol: 13.5% vol.
Acidity: 6.8g/l
Residual sugar: 140g/l
