Subsequent malolactic fermentation in large 70hl and medium 22hl wooden<br />barrels of French and Slavonian oak. This is followed by further ageing in wooden barrels.<br /><br />DEGUSTATION: the Lagrein Elena Walch invites with an intense and dense garnet red colour. The multi-layered bouquet captivates with discreet spicy aromas, with cocoa<br />as well as wild berries and heart cherries in the background. A distinctive<br />tannin structure, supple fullness, a playful rustic elegance and youthful freshness as well as a juicy, long finish convince on the palate.<br /><br />TERROIR: warmer sites on chalky soils with clay and sand on both sides of the ridge, facing southeast and southwest. Time is a precious commodity: it takes at least 84 months on the<br />lees to transfer the complex history of the vintage, the identity of the vineyard and the characteristics of the variety into the wine. It is an extra brut with a dosage of about 3<br />g/l. The enveloping taste and structure are merited by the quality of the grapes from old vines and the ripeness of the fruit. <br />ROSSO DI MONTALCINO DOC<br />2015<br /><br />This wine was originally known as 'Brunello Etichetta Bianca' and was renamed Rosso di Montalcino in 1983 when the DOC was established.<br />True to the style that characterises all Biondi-Santi wines, Rosso is distinguished by its fragrant and fruity soul, which makes it perfect to be enjoyed even at a young age.<br />THE 2015 VINTAGE<br />A majestic vintage where structure, elegance and freshness combine to create something special. 2015 was a warm, low rainfall year with high temperatures from May to<br />August, which allowed the vines to ripen very well, giving us perfect grapes for very classy wines. We started the harvest on 21 September.<br />THE ORIGIN<br />The 2015 Rosso di Montalcino was produced with the Sangiovese Grosso clone BBS11 (Brunello Biondi Santi 11), identified and selected by Biondi-Santi at Tenuta Greppo<br />in the 1970s. For this Rosso, grapes were used exclusively from the youngest vineyards, aged between 4 and 10 years.<br />AGING<br />The 2015 Rosso di Montalcino was aged 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels.<br />THE EMOTION<br />The 2015 vintage gave great satisfaction. Even in Rosso di Montalcino one can feel the makings of an outstanding vintage that stands out for its structure and very refined<br />and intensely fruity bouquet. Brilliant ruby red in colour, it offers a broad and intense bouquet with notes of violets and wisteria flowers, fresh cherries and light hints of cedar<br />that find depth in the spiciness of pink and white pepper and sweet notes of vanilla bean. In the mouth it is soft and well-structured, with a fruity core, very elegant and fine.<br />The potential of the vintage is evident in the really important tannic texture that finds balance with the fresh acidity, typical of Tenuta Greppo wines. The finish is long and<br />savoury. A ready-made wine, while maintaining a good capacity for bottle ageing.<br />ALCOHOL<br />13,5%<br />

LIS NERIS<br /><br />Lis Neris is the winery's flagship red wine. It stands out for its 'Bordeaux' profile (Merlot 90-95% and Cabernet Sauvignon 5-10%) and for its pure-blooded Friulian character.<br />A warm and rich wine, with refined tannins and a very long finish. PIPA<br />PIPA is the exotic wine in our range. PIPA is a fortified wine - vino liquoroso, inspired by port wine. This first South Tyrolean 'port' is vinified from Lagrein grapes and is a<br />long-lasting and complex dessert wine produced along the lines of a vintage Ruby. The name 'PIPA' comes from the typical oak barrels in which the port wine is stored in<br />Portugal. 'After a trip to the Douro Valley in Portugal, I wanted to try my hand at making a port wine myself: I wanted to capture and preserve the typical cherry notes of the<br />Lagrein during fermentation. After several experiments, I was able to refine and perfect the process.' FranzGojer<br /><br />Site: Auer: Stony alluvial soil of the Etsch river. The warm porphyry is ideal for the grape variety. Guyot cultivation with 5,000 vines per hectare.<br /><br />Vinification: Hand harvest and gentle processing. Cold maceration and fermentation in open oak vats with light toasting. Intensive extraction by continuous immersion of the<br />marc cap in the must. Addition of brandy to the fermenting must to kill the yeasts and stop fermentation. Ageing in PIPA oak barrels for 6 months. Bottling and ageing in<br />bottle.<br /><br />Sensory characteristics: Intense garnet red with violet nuances. Smells wonderfully and intensely of fully ripe cherries and wild berries, Full-bodied and fine in the mouth. The<br />strong tannin and the juicy acidity act as an ideal counterpart to the sweetness and thus form a complex taste picture. The long, fruity finish flatters the palate. Suitable for<br />chocolate desserts of all kinds, the more intense and noble the chocolate, the better the combination.<br />
