Quercegobbe<br />Merlot 100%<br />A real cru from which the merlot grapes used to produce the wine come.<br /><br />Quercegobbe is in an ideal position, on the edge of the Mediterranean maquis but close to the winery, on a well-ventilated hill overlooking the sea.<br /><br />Very concentrated ruby colour. Wide and intriguing nose, at first in the fruity notes of blueberries, raspberries, sour cherries and plums, then in the Mediterranean<br />component of myrtle, rosemary and liquorice.<br />The body is dense, rich overall, soft, with smooth tannins. As vigorous as it is balanced, it is an impactful red that does not betray expectations.<br />Production methodPrecious threads from the past weave a modern weave.<br />The production method is rigorously aimed at defending the territorial connotation.<br /><br />It ferments in truncated conical oak vats and matures for 15 months, partly in new 600-litre demi-muids and partly in second-passage barriques. First born among the wines that make up the MOMA line dedicated to the world of art, the label bears the work Golden Glass by Milanese artist Beatrice Pani, first prize-<br />winner at the third edition of the Umberto Cesari Art Contest.<br /><br />Blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grown on medium-textured clay soils. The vineyards have an average age of 15 years and a yield of 80 quintals of<br />grapes per hectare. Fermented in vertical steel vats at controlled temperature for 12-14 days. Matured for 6 months in 30 HL Slavonian oak casks and a further 3 months in<br />bottle.<br /><br />Colour: light red with violet reflections.<br />Bouquet: intense plum, violet and red fruits.<br />Taste: pleasantly velvety on the palate, with the fruity hints typical of Sangiovese, the softness of Merlot and the 'balsamicity' of Cabernet Sauvignon. A rather dry site, with sandy, gravelly moraine soil.<br />Vinification: Maceration for 10 days with gentle circulation of the marc followed by maceration for a further 10-14 days. Racking of the young wine into new/used barriques,<br />malolactic fermentation, several transfers of the wine during the 18 months of ageing. It needs attention, time to mature and likes to play the leading role: as the crowning glory of a festive table or even as a proud solitaire.<br /><br />Grape variety:<br />Pinot Noir<br />Site and soil: Mazzon, called 'Mason' by us to avoid confusion with the larger site above Neumarkt. Four hectares are planted with Pinot Nero in this unique site: a south-<br />facing high plateau at 400 - 450 m above sea level, sunny and constantly exposed to the wind. Ideal conditions for the tightly berried Pinot grapes. The soil is sandy loam<br />and interspersed with various stones: Dolomite, porphyry, gneiss and granite can be found from small grains to fist-sized stones.
