Already on April 10, on the sunny sites
around the monastery, we saw the first shoots. Thanks to mild spring weather, there were
no problems with frost. During the summer the conditions were good as well, with normal
temperatures and average rainfall. There were no extreme weather event and so harvest
started about 10 days early on September 14th. Unfortunately, the autumn was a little bit
rainy and therefore the diurnal temperature shift was less extreme than usual. In order to
get healthy grapes, the harvest dates were brought forward and so harvest was already
completed by mid-October.
The wines of the 2020 vintage are delicate, fresh and fruity with moderate alcohol and an
appealing acidity. Similar to the 2019 vintage.
Sylvaner Südt. DOC 750ml...

Sylvaner Südt. DOC 750ml...

This grape variety most likely originates from Germany and was introduced to South Tyrol around 1900; today it is mainly cultivated in the Eisack Valley. The Sylvaner grape
feels particularly at home in the not too high, airy and warm slopes of the central Valle Isarco. The shallow, gravelly, weathered soils give the wine its incomparable delicacy
and elegance, which, although reminiscent of the wines of the same name on the other side of the Alps, unmistakably reflects the peculiarity of the Valle Isarco.

Grape variety: Sylvaner
Growing altitude: 520 - 850 m
Soil: mineral-rich, gravelly diorite and quartz phyllite weathered soils
Vinification: gentle processing and pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation and ageing on fine yeast in stainless steel tanks, no malolactic fermentation

Colour: light lemon yellow
Taste: dry, aromatic, pleasantly fresh with a balanced body
Aroma: delicate, typical of the variety, fruity, of peach, apple, apricot

Analytical values:
Alcohol content 13.50 % vol.
Residual sugar 2.3 g/l
Total acidity 6.4 g/l
