Even though we have experienced a challenging growing season with alternating warm and cool periods with some rain,
we have had a fantastic harvest season with the best possible weather conditions for ripening. After a midsummery June and July, followed by high rainfall at the beginning of
August, the grapes were able to benefit and ripen for a long time from the optimal conditions with plenty of sunshine. Harvest began late in early September with ideal
weather conditions which were only replaced by more unstable weather towards the end. Warm daytime temperatures and cool nights allowed the grapes to reach optimum
ripeness with balanced acidity levels and clear fruit, and good structure.

FOOD PAIRING
Full-flavoured, savoury dishes such as venison, game, red meat or mature cheeses.

Appellation: Alto Adige DOC
Alcohol: 13,50 % Vol.
Lagrein Ris. Elena Walch...

Lagrein Ris. Elena Walch...

VINTAGE 2021
We are excited about a qualitatively excellent vintage, especially for our white wines! A dry and cool spring led to a late flowering of the vines and was followed by a warm
and dry June. After an irregular midsummer, a surprising change in the weather followed in mid- ugust, which brought dream weather until the end of September and the very
best conditions for achieving an optimal maturity of the grapes. The harvest began in mid- September, about 10 days later than last year. With blue skies and lots of
sunshine, midsummer daytime temperatures and autumnally cool nights, the grapes were able to achieve ideal sugar levels while maintaining very good acidity. Accordingly,
the 2021 wines show great quality!

VINIFICATION
Must fermentation for approximately 10 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Maturation for 20 months in French oak barriques. The wine is
then being bottle aged for several months before being released. Since 2015, a state-of-the-art fermentation cellar has allowed the grapes to be processed with the utmost
care, with whole-grape processing using via gravity fed technology. A highly sensitive destemmer and the gentle transport of the grapes by means of a specialized container,
cuvon, which runs on rails, prove to be very gentle on the grapes and preserve their high quality. The state-of-the-art building is certainly unique in Alto Adige, and is
probably one of the most modern fermentation cellars in Italy to produce great red wines of excellence

Variety: 100% Lagrein
Alcohol: 14,0% Vol
Cabernet 'Istrice' Elena...

VINTAGE 2022
An excellent vintage 2022 is awaiting you! As a result of the warm, stable summer, grapes of the very best health and with balanced values have reached our cellar. The
2022 wine year began with a warm spring, which led to an early start of flowering. The succeeding summer was consistently dry and warm-to-hot by the midsummer. The
drought did not cause any problems, not at least thanks to our irrigation systems and smart technology. The warm summer months have resulted in extraordinarily healthy
grapes of very good quality and maturity. The acidity values were somewhat lower due to the vintage, but well balanced and were supported by targeted foliage work during
the summer months, and a slightly earlier harvest. The first grapes were harvested at the end of August - as always entirely by hand. Overall, the wines show complexity,
great structure and very good fruit.

VINIFICATION
Traditional must fermentation for approximately 10 days in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation in large oak vats. The final wine matures for 12 months
in French oak barriques and is being bottle-aged for several months before being released.

Alcohol: 14,50 % Vol
