2018 CHATEAU CROIX MOUTON 'BORDEAUX SUPERIEUR'<br />THE YEAR.<br />The M printed on the label of this fine-tasting and fleshy Bordeaux Supérieur wine marks the personality and particularities of each vintage and changes colour every year.<br />This cuvée from Château Croix Mouton, which dominates the Dordogne, is made exclusively from Merlot, the emblematic grape variety of the right bank of the Garonne, and<br />has a deep ruby red colour with beautiful shiny reflections. On the palate, small, acidic red fruits (mainly red plum, cherry) follow one another. On the palate it is full-bodied<br />and juicy, full of charming finesse. This wine is best appreciated when young, when its fruity bouquet shows all its vivacity.<br />THE CHÂTEAU CROIX MOUTON ESTATE<br />Château Croix Mouton is located in the town of Lugon on the right bank of the Bordeaux River and covers almost 70 hectares of vines. It is owned by the Janoueix family and<br />thrives on the clayey soil of Carney Island. The 2019 grape varieties focus on Merlot (96%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (2.5%), Malbec (1%) and Petit Verdot (0.5%).<br />The vines are on average 38 years old. The planting density is about 3,600 to 6,000 vines per hectare.<br />The work in the vineyard is meticulous and includes tillage, grassing, thinning and some leaf thinning. After sorting at harvest, vinification takes place in concrete and<br />stainless steel tanks with openings and regular puncturing. Fermentation takes place under temperature control (maximum 26-27 °C). The maturation period is between<br />three weeks and one month. Maturation lasts between three and four months on the fine lees in barrels (20%) and in vats with or without wood (80%).<br />The top Bordeaux produced by the estate are pleasant, fruity wines that tend to be drunk at a young age. Gourmet and fleshy wines that are also quite accessible.<br />

Pomino Bianco Riserva DOC<br /><br />'On the road to Pomino I am thrilled every time I discover this unique corner of Tuscany: hills and cypresses suddenly give way to steep slopes, cooler temperatures in<br />summer and snow in winter, magnificent forests of firs and centuries-old sequoias surrounding the vineyards of Chardonnay, planted here since 1855. At an altitude of 700<br />metres, the Cru Benefizio, the first white wine in Italy fermented and aged in barriques, was born in 1973.'<br /><br />Climatic trend<br />The 2021 season will be remembered as a dynamic vintage. After a rainy and mild winter, which had led to a slight advance in budding, temperatures dropped sharply at the<br />beginning of April, slightly slowing the growth of the buds. From May onwards, temperatures began to rise again, leading to a summer that will be remembered for both the<br />beautiful day-night temperature range and the long period of intense heat. The grapes presented themselves at harvest in a perfect state of health, thanks to the mild<br />temperatures and low humidity.<br /><br />Vinification and ripening<br />The Benefizio vineyard is located at an altitude of 700 m above sea level, with a southern exposure and predominantly sandy soil. The Chardonnay grapes were harvested in<br />boxes by hand with extreme care and attention. Once they arrived in the cellar, the pressing they underwent was extremely soft and gentle, allowing a good extraction of<br />clear must, which was further clarified after cold decantation. The musts thus obtained were placed in barriques, 50% new and 50% first-passage, where they underwent<br />alcoholic fermentation and only partially malolactic fermentation. Subsequently, the wine matured in wood, on the lees, with bâtonnage carried out as required. After further<br />bottle ageing, Benefizio Riserva reached its maximum taste-olfactory expression in terms of elegance and harmony.<br /><br />Tasting notes<br />Elegance, expressiveness and body. Benefizio 2021 presents a wonderful straw yellow colour with golden highlights. The bouquet is varied, presenting hints of white fruit<br />such as pear, exotic fruit notes such as mango, banana and pineapple and more citrus notes of candied citron. The citrus sensation is also picked up by hints of orange<br />blossom. On the palate it is savoury and mineral, with an elegant and harmonious finish; the aromatic intensity perceived on the palate is amplified by the alcohol content<br />and the aftertaste of dried fruit. Prolonged maceration with the skins lasts<br />up to 2 days to extract colour, aroma and density in the mouth. Malolactic fermentation takes place in new barrels and stainless steel tanks, depending on the parcels and<br />their origin.<br />COLOUR: Deep and luminous red.<br />BOUQUET: A bouquet with beautiful notes of toasted wood and spices, combined with liquorice-based candied red fruits.<br />FLAVOUR: Full-bodied on the palate with a background of ripe fruit and elegant, soft tannins. A long silky aftertaste.<br />AGEING: Once the process is complete, the wines are aged in barrels and racked every 6 months. For 12 months they are aged in French (6%) and American (4%) oak<br />barrels. Maturation in bottles for at least one year before marketing.<br />

TYPE OF WINE: Red wine AOC Corbières<br />PRODUCTION AREA: The estate is nestled in the rugged hills just behind the Mediterranean coast of Narbonne, in the south of France.<br />GRAPE VARIETIES: Syrah 36%, Grenache noir 35%, Mourvèdre 12%, Carignan 9%, Alicante-henri-bouschet 8%.<br />VINIFICATION: made according to the traditional method. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete tanks. During<br />fermentation, the wine is regularly pumped to allow gentle extraction of the tannins. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is left untouched for a couple of days. The total<br />maceration time is 15-2 days.<br />COLOUR: ruby red<br />BOUQUET: Pure, sunny bouquet with notes of flint and graphite. These aromas are mixed with scents of thyme, black truffle, a little liquorice and eucalyptus.<br />FLAVOUR: The palate has the same mineral character, but on a slightly different register (mentholated verbena, sage, laurel). Secondary notes (from fermentation) of<br />blackcurrant and blueberry jam and a hint of fruit brandy, a sign of the beginning of a very harmonious evolution. The tannins are well integrated, giving the wine a perfectly<br />balanced structure.<br />

Vintage Collection Extra Brut 2018<br />Denomination: Franciacorta Millesimato.<br />Grape varieties: Chardonnay 65%, Pinot Nero 29%, Pinot Bianco 6%.<br />Original vineyards: 17 Chardonnay vines, with an average age of 28 years, located in the municipalities of Erbusco, Adro, Cazzago San Martino, Corte Franca and<br />Passirano. 7 Pinot Nero vines, with an average age of 29 years, located in the municipalities of Erbusco and Passirano. 2 Pinot Bianco vines, with an average age of 29<br />years, located in the municipality of Passirano.<br />Harvest: 2018. Very cold winter: February with snow and minimum temperatures as low as -7°C. With the onset of spring, the weather remained cold and damp and the<br />vines began budding about ten days later than usual. From mid-April, an abnormal rise in temperatures to 29°C favoured abundant flower fertilisation. With the arrival of May,<br />however, the rain returned. It was only from 15 July that the real summer was seen, which continued until 25 August with temperatures up to above average, with almost<br />torrid heat in August. The much-desired summer rain arrived in the third ten days of August and met the water requirements of the vines. The harvest that began on 13<br />August gave us a vintage characterised by a very generous nature, well managed by thinning, with beautiful, healthy and perfectly ripened grapes.<br />Average yield per hectare: 8,300 kilograms of grapes, equivalent to 3,570 litres of wine (wine yield: 43%).<br />Vinification: Franciacorta Vintage Collection wines are the fruit of careful grape selection and skilful vinification conducted in full respect of the Ca' del Bosco Method. The<br />grapes, freshly hand-picked into small crates, are graded and cooled. Each bunch of grapes is selected by expert eyes and hands, to then benefit from exclusive 'grape<br />spas'. A special system washes and whirlpools the bunches, using three soaking tubs and a drying tunnel. After crushing in the absence of oxygen, all the musts of the<br />base wines ferment in small oak barrels. In order to seek maximum aromatic complexity and expressive power, without losing elegance, the barrel elevage lasts only 5<br />months. A pair of flying tanks allows the wine to be transferred by gravity from the small barrels to the ageing tanks. After 7 months from the harvest, the cuvée is created.<br />The 2018 Vintage Collection Extra Brut is the result of a skilful blend of 26 base wines of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir that give the finished product a particular<br />profile, rich and complex. The higher proportion of Pinot Noir gives it power and nobility, further reinforced by a long bottle ageing. The dégorgement takes place in the<br />absence of oxygen, using a unique system invented and patented by Ca' del Bosco. This avoids oxidative shocks and further additions of sulphites, making our Franciacorta<br />wines purer, more pleasant and longer-lived.
