2018 CHATEAU CROIX MOUTON 'BORDEAUX SUPERIEUR'<br />THE YEAR.<br />The M printed on the label of this fine-tasting and fleshy Bordeaux Supérieur wine marks the personality and particularities of each vintage and changes colour every year.<br />This cuvée from Château Croix Mouton, which dominates the Dordogne, is made exclusively from Merlot, the emblematic grape variety of the right bank of the Garonne,<br />and has a deep ruby red colour with beautiful shiny reflections. On the palate, small, acidic red fruits (mainly red plum, cherry) follow one another. On the palate it is full-<br />bodied and juicy, full of charming finesse. This wine is best appreciated when young, when its fruity bouquet shows all its vivacity.<br />THE CHÂTEAU CROIX MOUTON ESTATE<br />Château Croix Mouton is located in the town of Lugon on the right bank of the Bordeaux River and covers almost 70 hectares of vines. It is owned by the Janoueix family<br />and thrives on the clayey soil of Carney Island. The 2019 grape varieties focus on Merlot (96%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (2.5%), Malbec (1%) and Petit Verdot<br />(0.5%). The vines are on average 38 years old. The planting density is about 3,600 to 6,000 vines per hectare.<br />The work in the vineyard is meticulous and includes tillage, grassing, thinning and some leaf thinning. After sorting at harvest, vinification takes place in concrete and<br />stainless steel tanks with openings and regular puncturing. Fermentation takes place under temperature control (maximum 26-27 °C). The maturation period is between<br />three weeks and one month. Maturation lasts between three and four months on the fine lees in barrels (20%) and in vats with or without wood (80%).<br />The top Bordeaux produced by the estate are pleasant, fruity wines that tend to be drunk at a young age. Gourmet and fleshy wines that are also quite accessible.<br />

This grape variety most likely originates from Germany and was introduced to South Tyrol around 1900; today it is mainly cultivated in the Eisack Valley. The Sylvaner<br />grape feels particularly at home in the not too high, airy and warm slopes of the central Valle Isarco. <br /><br />The AMOS cuvée shows the terroir potential of the high Kurtatsch sites. AMOS is composed of the best hand-picked white grapes from the coolest vineyards between 600<br />and 900 metres above sea level.<br /><br />It is precisely this interplay of varieties and sites that makes AMOS so unique in character and style. In order to preserve the mountain freshness, barriques were not used.<br />The long fine yeast storage in large wood provides additional complexity. The neutral Burgundy varieties form the compact foundation (70%) Kerner and Sauvignon give the<br />wine its seductive bouquet of white peach, apricot, blossom and citrus fruit. The grapes used to produce this finely aromatic Asti spumante come from Moscato bianco vineyards on soil rich in limestone. The continuous 'perlage' and persistent<br />foam are a prelude to the ample and intense perfume reminiscent of orange blossom and sage. The sweet and inviting flavour is tempered by a stimulating acidity. Ideal<br />with dessert, the wine of the party, as an aperitif and for any other occasion to remember.<br /><br />TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION:<br />Vineyard exposure: east-south to south-west, with rows oriented to take full advantage of the sun's action on leaves and bunches.<br />Soil composition: clayey-tufaceous soil rich in limestone, which enhances the finesse and aromaticity of the wines, very important for this grape variety.<br />Vine density: nr. 4000/5000 vines per hectare from 5 to 40 years.<br />Type of training: low plant with simple guyot, tending to bring the leafy part upwards, in order to expose the bunches to the sun's action and encourage photosynthesis on<br />the leaves.
