Pomino Benefizio Riserva...

Pomino Benefizio Riserva...

Pomino Bianco Riserva DOC

'On the road to Pomino I am thrilled every time I discover this unique corner of Tuscany: hills and cypresses suddenly give way to steep slopes, cooler temperatures in
summer and snow in winter, magnificent forests of firs and centuries-old sequoias surrounding the vineyards of Chardonnay, planted here since 1855. At an altitude of 700
metres, the Cru Benefizio, the first white wine in Italy fermented and aged in barriques, was born in 1973.'

Climatic trend
The 2021 season will be remembered as a dynamic vintage. After a rainy and mild winter, which had led to a slight advance in budding, temperatures dropped sharply at the
beginning of April, slightly slowing the growth of the buds. From May onwards, temperatures began to rise again, leading to a summer that will be remembered for both the
beautiful day-night temperature range and the long period of intense heat. The grapes presented themselves at harvest in a perfect state of health, thanks to the mild
temperatures and low humidity.

Vinification and ripening
The Benefizio vineyard is located at an altitude of 700 m above sea level, with a southern exposure and predominantly sandy soil. The Chardonnay grapes were harvested in
boxes by hand with extreme care and attention. Once they arrived in the cellar, the pressing they underwent was extremely soft and gentle, allowing a good extraction of
clear must, which was further clarified after cold decantation. The musts thus obtained were placed in barriques, 50% new and 50% first-passage, where they underwent
alcoholic fermentation and only partially malolactic fermentation. Subsequently, the wine matured in wood, on the lees, with bâtonnage carried out as required. After further
bottle ageing, Benefizio Riserva reached its maximum taste-olfactory expression in terms of elegance and harmony.

Tasting notes
Elegance, expressiveness and body. Benefizio 2021 presents a wonderful straw yellow colour with golden highlights. The bouquet is varied, presenting hints of white fruit
such as pear, exotic fruit notes such as mango, banana and pineapple and more citrus notes of candied citron. The citrus sensation is also picked up by hints of orange
blossom. On the palate it is savoury and mineral, with an elegant and harmonious finish; the aromatic intensity perceived on the palate is amplified by the alcohol content
and the aftertaste of dried fruit. Persistent and long finish.
Poggio alle Gazze 2021 750ml

POGGIO ALLE GAZZE DELL'ORNELLAIA 2021
TUSCANY IGT BIANCO

Horizon over the Mediterranean and roots firmly planted in Ornellaia's deepest identity. Poggio alle Gazze reveals with freshness and stubbornness a genius loci that knows
how to be as delicate as a breeze and at the same time sumptuous and self-confident.

E NOLOGIST'S TASTING NOTES:
72% Sauvignon Blanc, 16% Vermentino, 6% Viognier, 6% Verdicchio Alc. 13.5% vol. 'Poggio alle Gazze dell'Ornellaia 2021 displays its usual brilliant straw yellow colour;
the nose is complex and seductive, in a riot of citrus notes, exotic fruits, white flowers, accompanied also by scents of cut grass and asparagus. In the mouth, the wine
reveals itself to be ample and beautifully fresh, and the taste closes in a long, savoury and mineral finish that well represents the terroir in which it was born.' - Olga Fusari -
Winemaker - May 2022

THE CLIMATE OF 2021
The 2021 vintage began with a rainy and mild winter that allowed the soil's water reserves to be replenished. After a dry March, budding took place in the first two weeks of
April. The gradual rise in temperatures, with normal rainfall, allowed the shoots to grow steadily, leading to flowering in excellent conditions at the end of May. From June
onwards, fully summery weather set in, with slightly higher than average temperatures and almost no rainfall, leading to veraison in the last week of July. The drought lasted
throughout August and September, but the spring rains and the deep soils of the Bolgheri area allowed the vines to avoid too much water stress, creating the conditions for
small, highly concentrated grapes with high quality potential. Harvesting of the whites began on 18 August for the Sauvignon, followed by the Viognier, and concluded in the
second week of September with the Vermentino.

VINIFICATION AND AGEING
The grapes were harvested by hand in 15 kg crates in the early hours of the morning and immediately cooled on arrival at the winery to maintain all their aromatic potential
intact. After careful selection, the whole bunches were subjected to a slow, soft pressing with maximum attention to protection against oxidation. After static decantation for
about 12 hours, the musts were placed in new barriques (25%), used barriques (25%), and steel and cement vats (50%). Alcoholic fermentation took place at temperatures
not exceeding 22°C. Malolactic fermentation was not carried out. Maturation continued for 6 months on the lees with bâtonnage throughout the period. Before bottling, the
blending of the various batches and a light clarification were carried out. The wine then underwent a further 12 months of bottle ageing before release. - Axel Heinz - Estate
Manager
Brachetto d'Acqui DOCG...

Brachetto d'Acqui DOCG...

Giacomo loved elastic ball, a Piedmontese game played in the Acquese hills, an area with a vocation for the production of Brachetto. So it was that Giacomo, like his father
before him, inherited the nickname of a fist-ball champion 'Braida', and in 1967 the family began producing Brachetto d'Acqui.

Denomination
Brachetto d'Acqui DOCG.
Grapes and Vineyard: produced with grapes: Brachetto 100%.
Winery: steel tanks for fermentation and maceration of the skins at controlled temperature for 36-48 hours. Passage in autoclave for frothing. After stabilisation and
microfiltration, bottle ageing follows.
Tasting: light ruby red colour with purple reflections, lively foam and insistent perlage. Lush, fragrant and aromatic bouquet, with clear hints of ripe red fruit and dried roses.
Sweet, soft, delicate, sparkling, persuasive flavour with a long aromatic persistence. It goes well with strawberries and wild berries, as well as with nuts, hazelnuts, almonds,
pistachios and figs.
The most traditional pairing, with dessert at the end of the meal or mid-afternoon, is with dry pastries and baked goods, from Christmas panettone to tarts. Braida Brachetto
d'Acqui is perhaps the only wine in the world that, above all, goes well with chocolate.
Serving recommendations: Serve at 6-8°.
