2018 CHATEAU CROIX MOUTON 'BORDEAUX SUPERIEUR'<br />THE YEAR.<br />The M printed on the label of this fine-tasting and fleshy Bordeaux Supérieur wine marks the personality and particularities of each vintage and changes colour every year.<br />This cuvée from Château Croix Mouton, which dominates the Dordogne, is made exclusively from Merlot, the emblematic grape variety of the right bank of the Garonne,<br />and has a deep ruby red colour with beautiful shiny reflections. On the palate, small, acidic red fruits (mainly red plum, cherry) follow one another. On the palate it is full-<br />bodied and juicy, full of charming finesse. This wine is best appreciated when young, when its fruity bouquet shows all its vivacity.<br />THE CHÂTEAU CROIX MOUTON ESTATE<br />Château Croix Mouton is located in the town of Lugon on the right bank of the Bordeaux River and covers almost 70 hectares of vines. It is owned by the Janoueix family<br />and thrives on the clayey soil of Carney Island. The 2019 grape varieties focus on Merlot (96%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (2.5%), Malbec (1%) and Petit Verdot<br />(0.5%). The vines are on average 38 years old. The planting density is about 3,600 to 6,000 vines per hectare.<br />The work in the vineyard is meticulous and includes tillage, grassing, thinning and some leaf thinning. After sorting at harvest, vinification takes place in concrete and<br />stainless steel tanks with openings and regular puncturing. Fermentation takes place under temperature control (maximum 26-27 °C). The maturation period is between<br />three weeks and one month. Maturation lasts between three and four months on the fine lees in barrels (20%) and in vats with or without wood (80%).<br />The top Bordeaux produced by the estate are pleasant, fruity wines that tend to be drunk at a young age. Gourmet and fleshy wines that are also quite accessible.<br />

The<br />maturatThe story of Ampélia is about a meeting, a challenge and a conviction.<br />In 1996, three years before acquiring the lands of Ampélia, François Despagne inherited the<br />Grand Corbin-Despagne estate from his family, making it the seventh generation of his<br />family at the helm of this Saint-Emilion property.<br />François then eagerly sought a new challenge and created a new vineyard -this time, not in<br />Saint-Emilion, but in Castillon - Côtes de Bordeaux, the bordering appellation.ion period is between three weeks and one month. I Frati<br />Lugana Doc<br /><br />The wine that has made the company's image known and continues to do so. It has a direct link with its variety, Turbiana, our indigenous vine. Conceived to be consumed<br />during the year, it expresses its best side many years after bottling. In its youth it is fresh, linear and endowed with great finesse and elegance with delicate notes of white<br />flowers and balsamic, hints of apricot and almond. Time allows it to evolve, expressing its mineral notes with greater determination. The wine acquires its own complexity<br />with hints of iodine, spices and candied fruit. In the mouth it is capable of enveloping the whole palate thanks to an important savoury essence accompanied by lively and<br />exuberant acidity. Description:<br />Aroma of fully ripe wild berries and dark chocolate. Very dense and complex with fine tannins. Elegant Merlot with very good ageing potential.<br />Ageing potential: 6 - 8 years.<br />Recommended food: Goes well with hearty roasted or grilled meats with root vegetables and spicy dark sauces, as well as game dishes and cheeses.<br />Serving temperature: 16° C.<br />Grape variety: Merlot. The grapes come from 20-year-old trellised vineyards with a planting density of approx. 5,000 vines/ha.<br />Sites: Sun-exposed slope. Extremely dry and heat-retaining quartz porphyry weathered soil that only allows low yields.<br />Vinification: Must fermentation at 28-30° C in stainless steel tanks. Gentle circulation of grape skins and juice is used to achieve optimal extraction of colour and extract<br />substances. Further ageing takes place entirely in small wooden barrels for about 12 months. After gentle filling and 12 months of bottle ageing, the wine is put on sale.<br />

The winter of 2017 ended a five-year drought with January recording the most rainfall in over 20 years. The abundant rainfall continued into March, causing a modest<br />delay in budbreak, and pushing bloom back by two weeks. Increased soil moisture allowed for healthy vine growth and development. The summer, in turn, was warm and<br />punctuated by occasional heat waves. Despite Mother Nature's variability, favorable weather in August provided optimal conditions for fruit development and maturation.<br />Superb flavors and excellent ripening led to an earlier than expected harvest, which commenced on the 5th of September.<br /><br />The Opus One 2017 offers a harmonious aromatic balance of rich dark fruit, stems of roses, and earthy forest floor. The juicy entry offers a round, silky mouthfeel with just<br />enough acidity to complement the satin texture. This seductive wine shows flavors of black cassis, black cherry and a hint of cocoa powder. The fine-grained, plush tannins<br />evolve into a long, supple finish. At Castellare, Chianti Classico is produced using only two indigenous grape varieties: Sangioveto, the prince of Tuscan vines, which makes up 90% of the blend, and the<br />remaining 10% of Canaiolo, another typical variety of the area. The true Chianti Classico, therefore, without the addition of international grape varieties such as Cabernet<br />or Merlot, in order to maintain the authentic formula of the most famous of Italian wines while at the same time seeking maximum elegance.<br /><br />Tasting notes: the colour of this Chianti Classico is the ruby red of Sangioveto. The nose is fragrant, fresh with pleasant hints of red fruit, liquorice, currants and a light<br />touch of vanilla. The typical notes of Chianti Sangiovese dominate. On the palate it expresses a pleasant sweetness, is round, soft and savoury. Acidity and persistence<br />characterise a very elegant aftertaste.<br /><br />Pairings: A very versatile wine that also goes well with structured and important dishes.
