This grape variety most likely originates from Germany and was introduced to South Tyrol around 1900; today it is mainly cultivated in the Eisack Valley. The Sylvaner<br />grape feels particularly at home in the not too high, airy and warm slopes of the central Valle Isarco. The shallow, gravelly, weathered soils give the wine its incomparable<br />delicacy and elegance, which, although reminiscent of the wines of the same name on the other side of the Alps, unmistakably reflects the peculiarity of the Valle Isarco.<br /><br /><br />Grape variety: Sylvaner<br />Growing altitude: 520 - 850 m<br />Soil: mineral-rich, gravelly diorite and quartz phyllite weathered soils<br />Vinification: gentle processing and pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation and ageing on fine yeast in stainless steel tanks, no malolactic fermentation<br /><br /><br />Colour: light lemon yellow<br />Taste: dry, aromatic, pleasantly fresh with a balanced body<br />Aroma: delicate, typical of the variety, fruity, of peach, apple, apricot<br />

Grown on old vines in a divine vineyard near Lake Kaltern, its own 'Vigna'. Its<br />terroir and traditional ageing in wooden barrels give rise to a multi-layered aroma of Amarena cherries, redcurrants and violets with a hint of almonds. The elegant body is<br />evident on the palate. The wine is refreshing and carries soft tannins. The finish is fruity and long.<br /><br />Hand-picked and selected grapes from the historic 'Bischofsleiten' vineyard. Destemming of the grapes and mash fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless<br />steel tanks. <br /><br />The AMOS cuvée shows the terroir potential of the high Kurtatsch sites. AMOS is composed of the best hand-picked white grapes from the coolest vineyards between 600<br />and 900 metres above sea level.<br /><br />It is precisely this interplay of varieties and sites that makes AMOS so unique in character and style. In order to preserve the mountain freshness, barriques were not used.<br />The long fine yeast storage in large wood provides additional complexity. The neutral Burgundy varieties form the compact foundation (70%) Kerner and Sauvignon give the<br />wine its seductive bouquet of white peach, apricot, blossom and citrus fruit. Generous and enticing flavours ensue and<br />complement a beautiful balance between breadth and freshness. An enduring finish goes hand in hand with silky tannins<br />that elevate the wine's elegance.<br />THE 2023 GROWING SEASON<br />2023 was a challenging vintage in Bolgheri that, however, benefitted from Nature's benevolence during key<br />moments of the growing season. Winter was mild with relatively high temperatures and average rainfall that<br />resulted in early plant growth. Spring brought abundant rainfall that helped fill up water reserves for the summer,<br />but which also called for meticulous work in the vineyard. A hot summer saw high temperatures, albeit without<br />reaching any extremes, alongside rains that helped offset water stress in the vineyards. This enabled the grapes to<br />ripen gradually and regularly, allowing the berries to achieve high concentration.<br />Rainfall in late August and cool September nights helped aromatic complexity development and preserved the<br />acidity of the wine, resulting in a proper balance between power and elegance.<br />V INIFICATION AND AGEING<br />The different varietals were fermented separately in small steel tanks to maintain their characteristics. The alcoholic<br />fermentation was followed by malolactic fermentation, again in steel tanks. The wine was then aged for 10 months,<br />partly in barriques used previously for Ornellaia and partly in concrete tanks, to obtain the perfect balance between<br />tannic structure and the expression of fresh fruit.<br />
