VINTAGE 2022<br />An excellent vintage 2022 is awaiting you! As a result of the warm, stable summer, grapes of the very best health and with balanced values have reached our cellar. The<br />2022 wine year began with a warm spring, which led to an early start of flowering. The succeeding summer was consistently dry and warm-to-hot by the midsummer. The<br />drought did not cause any problems, not at least thanks to our irrigation systems and smart technology. The warm summer months have resulted in extraordinarily healthy<br />grapes of very good quality and maturity. The acidity values were somewhat lower due to the vintage, but well balanced and were supported by targeted foliage work during<br />the summer months, and a slightly earlier harvest. The first grapes were harvested at the end of August - as always entirely by hand. Overall, the wines show complexity,<br />great structure and very good fruit.<br /><br />VINIFICATION<br />Very carefully selected, fully ripe grapes get selected, picked in two harvests. Before pressing, the crushed berries are cold macerated for 6 hours, after which the juice is<br />clarified by refrigeration and natural sedimentation. Fermentation is activated using selected yeasts and the temperature is controlled at 18°C. Sauvignon 2022 La Foa...

Description: very intense fruity notes reminiscent of elder, acacia flowers and sage; combined with fine wood aromas; a wine with pithy acidity and a persistent finish.<br />Ageing potential: 6-10 years.<br />Recommended food: Ideal accompaniment to herb and fish dishes. Spicy white meat dishes and fresh cheese.<br />Serving temperature: 12 - 14° C.<br />Grape variety: Sauvignon blanc.<br />Sites: The vineyards are located on a rather dry site with optimal sun exposure and a sandy, gravelly moraine soil.<br />Vinification: After a short maceration period, the fully ripe grapes are gently pressed. Half of the must ferments in stainless steel vats while the remaining part is matured in wooden barrels/barriques. Only this second part undergoes partial malolactic fermentation. Born from the union of Sangiovese, traditionally used in Tuscan reds, with Cabernet<br />Sauvignon and Syrah, not widely used and known in the Maremma in 1988, all grown in the clay-limestone soil of Poggio dell'Avvoltore, this wine marks a milestone in the<br />Moris family's legacy of producing high quality wines in the Tuscan Maremma.<br /><br />TASTING NOTES:<br />Colour: ruby red with purple highlights<br />Bouquet: complex, with hints of ripe fruit and vanilla<br />Taste: full-bodied and soft, with a distinct velvety feel<br />Serving temperature: 18°C<br />Pairing: great roasts<br /><br />TECHNICAL NOTES:<br />Production area: Poggio dell'Avvoltore, Tenuta Poggetti, Massa Marittima.<br />Soil: clayey, rich in skeleton, tendentially alkaline.<br />Exposure: South-West<br />Yield per hectare: 35 ql. of grapes<br /><br />PRODUCTION NOTES:<br />Harvest takes place the second and fourth week of September and the first and second week of October. Fermentation in cement tanks, with temperature control and two<br />daily pumpings over for the first 10 days. The wine remains for a further 15 days in contact with the skins before being drawn off and immediately put into 225-litre barriques<br />(80% new), where malolactic fermentation takes place. Maturation in wood lasts about a year, during which time the wine is racked. The wine remains in the bottle for six<br />months before being put on the market.<br />
