According to an old tale, the goldfinch - the<br />'Cardellino' - builds its nest only in Chardonnay vines, while it does not nest in other grape varieties. To this faithful little bird Elena Walch has thus dedicated her debut, an<br />elegant and characterful Chardonnay, which has won many lovers with minerality, freshness, coupled with suppleness and excellent structure. The Chardonnay 'Cardellino'<br />has long become a classic of South Tyrol and continues to be the most popular wine at the table of the Walch family. A wine to which one remains faithful, just as the<br />Cardellino remains faithful to its Chardonnay.<br />The Chardonnay 'Cardellino' convinces with a strong, straw-yellow color, with a complex play of fruity aromas, citrus and orange peel, some lime blossom, mineral richness<br />and a spicy hint of tobacco. On the palate, this classic from Elena Walch surprises with exciting freshness and mineral race, with elegance and juicy length: inviting,<br />refreshing and easy to drink.<br /><br />COURSE OF THE VINTAGE 2022<br />An excellent vintage 2022 awaits you! Thanks to the warm, stable summer, grapes of the very best health and with balanced values have reached our cellar. The 2022<br />vintage began with a warm spring, which led to an early start of flowering. The following summer was consistently dry and warm, and hot in mid-summer. The drought did not<br />lead to any problems, not least thanks to our irrigation systems and meteostations in the vineyard. The warm summer months resulted in very healthy grapes of very good<br />quality and ripeness. The acidity levels were somewhat lower due to the vintage, but well balanced and were supported by targeted foliage work in the summer, as well as a<br />somewhat earlier harvest. The first grapes were harvested at the end of August - as always completely by hand. Overall, the wines are complex, with great structure and very<br />good fruit.<br /><br />VINIFICATION Gentle pressing, static clarification, fermentation at a controlled temperature of about 20°C, long contact with the yeast after fermentation. Part of the must<br />(about 15%) is fermented in French oak barrels where it matures for six months. The bouquet is reminiscent of<br />nettle, apples, green peppers and tropical fruits.<br />With a harmonious balance of acidity and minerality, notes of elderberry, banana and vanilla enrich the lively character of this wine.<br />Thanks to its excellent quality, this wine has been included in the Bernardi collection. <br />Pratto<br /><br />Pratto represents a challenge that we wanted to take up, going beyond conventional schemes while maintaining unaltered respect for the territory. In this late harvest, the<br />aromaticity of Sauvignon vinified in stainless steel, the softness of Chardonnay and the finesse of Turbiana meet harmoniously with an exclusive result. The nose shows<br />notes of tropical fruit accompanied by a vegetality and minerality that enhance the finesse and elegance with a very communicative impact that induces salivation stimulating<br />the taste. On the palate it is rich with an exquisitely sweet attack followed by perfectly balanced acidity and flavour, and finally the fruity and mineral notes return.
