'Gschleier' is certainly one of the most renowned wine-growing areas in South Tyrol. Our vines are in fact between 80 and 110 years old, a uniqueness in South Tyrolean viticulture. They grow at 450 metres above sea level on soils of calcareous, loamy and gravelly nature. Thanks to the location and the exposure of the slope, optimal sun exposure is guaranteed, which, together with the characteristics of the soil, produce a full-bodied wine with a longer storage life.
Vinification and ageing: The grapes are harvested by hand and delivered in small containers. After destemming, the must is gravity-fed into steel vats where fermentation takes place (15-20 days). After malolactic fermentation, the wine is matured for 9 months in large wooden barrels. The wine is aged in bottle for a further 6 months.
