Fresh red fruit like cherries and wild strawberries emerge on<br />the nose, accompanied by elegant mentholated notes that provide aromatic depth and freshness. Exquisite to taste, the wine<br />has a bold structure, while remaining elegant and delicate. Le Volte dell'Ornellaia is harmonious and balanced, complex<br />and juicy, a joy to drink.<br /><br />THE 2024 GROWING SEASON<br />2024 is a precocious and promising vintage. The growing season began quite early, aided by the mild and rainy<br />conditions in the first part of the year, which ensured an excellent water supply for the vineyards. Even in the<br />following months, abundant rainfall continued to support plant development, although it made vineyard<br />management particularly demanding and required great care. Starting at the end of June, the arrival of warm, sunny<br />days created ideal conditions for a quality harvest. The vines gradually slowed their growth, showing reduced vigour<br />at just the right time: during véraison at the end of July, a crucial phase for concentration and aromatic development.<br />This hot and dry period was interrupted in mid-August by some localized storms, which brought variable rainfall<br />across different vineyards, allowing the grapes to complete their ripening in optimal conditions. From early<br />September onwards, an alternation of sunny, cool and occasionally rainy days accompanied the harvest through to<br />its conclusion, naturally balancing the concentration of the berries without compromising their health. In summary,<br />2024 proved to be a balanced and dynamic vintage, with nice freshness and poised to produce elegant and<br />aromatically intense wines.<br /><br />VINIFICATION AND AGEING<br />The different varietals were fermented separately in small steel tanks to maintain their characteristics. The alcoholic<br />fermentation was followed by malolactic fermentation, again in steel tanks. The wine was then aged for 10 months,<br />partly in barriques used previously for Ornellaia and partly in tanks, to obtain the perfect balance between tannic<br />structure and the expression of fresh fruit.<br /><br />

The fresh must is statically clarified at low temperatures and then gently fermented at a controlled temperature of 20°C in steel tanks. The young wine matures in steel tanks for several months on its fine lees.<br /><br />TASTING NOTES<br />Our Pinot Grigio captivates with light straw yellow and fruity notes of ripe pears, white pepper and a bit of sage in the nose. Mineral- salty richness and a crisp acidity are distinctive on the palate. A wine with backbone!<br /><br />TERROIR<br />Steep slopes with southeast and southwest orientation between 250 and 600m. An interplay of brisk mountain and warmer mid-level vineyards. Calcareous soils with clay, sand and porphyric parts. VINTAGE 2022<br />An excellent vintage 2022 is awaiting you! As a result of the warm, stable summer, grapes of the very best health and with balanced values have reached our cellar. The 2022 wine year began with a warm spring, which led to an early start of flowering. The succeeding summer was consistently dry and warm-to-hot by the midsummer. The drought did not cause any problems, not at least thanks to our irrigation systems and smart technology. The warm summer months have resulted in extraordinarily healthy grapes of very good quality and maturity. The acidity values were somewhat lower due to the vintage, but well balanced and were supported by targeted foliage work during the summer months, and a slightly earlier harvest. The first grapes were harvested at the end of August - as always entirely by hand. Overall, the wines show complexity, great structure and very good fruit.<br /><br />VINIFICATION<br />Very carefully selected, fully ripe grapes get selected, picked in two harvests. Before pressing, the crushed berries are cold macerated for 6 hours, after which the juice is clarified by refrigeration and natural sedimentation. Fermentation is activated using selected yeasts and the temperature is controlled at 18°C. Chardonnay 'Cardellino'<br />South Tyrol DOC<br /><br />The Chardonnay 'Cardellino' was the first wine of Elena Walch and is still probably the most popular wine of the winery. According to an old tale, the goldfinch - the 'Cardellino' - builds its nest only in Chardonnay vines, while it does not nest in other grape varieties. To this faithful little bird Elena Walch has thus dedicated her debut, an elegant and characterful Chardonnay, which has won many lovers with minerality, freshness, coupled with suppleness and excellent structure. The Chardonnay 'Cardellino' has long become a classic of South Tyrol and continues to be the most popular wine at the table of the Walch family. A wine to which one remains faithful, just as the Cardellino remains faithful to its Chardonnay.<br />The Chardonnay 'Cardellino' convinces with a strong, straw-yellow color, with a complex play of fruity aromas, citrus and orange peel, some lime blossom, mineral richness and a spicy hint of tobacco. On the palate, this classic from Elena Walch surprises with exciting freshness and mineral race, with elegance and juicy length: inviting, refreshing and easy to drink.<br /><br /><br />VINIFICATION Gentle pressing, static clarification, fermentation at a controlled temperature of about 20°C, long contact with the yeast after fermentation. Maturation in large wooden barrels.<br /><br />TASTING NOTES<br />Our Lagrein Elena Walch gleams invitingly with its intensive and dense garnet red colour. The complex bouquet captivates with discreet spicy aromas, with cocoa together with wild berries and sweet cherries in the background. Distinctive tannin structure, smooth fullness, playful yet rustic elegance and youthful freshness as well as a long, juicy finish classify the palate.<br /><br />TERROIR<br />Warmer sites on calcareous soils with clay and sand on both sides of the ridge, southeast and southwest facing. <br />VINIFICATION<br />Must fermentation for approximately 10 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Maturation for 20 months in French oak barriques. The wine is then being bottle aged for several months before being released. Since 2015, a state-of-the-art fermentation cellar has allowed the grapes to be processed with the utmost care, with whole-grape processing using via gravity fed technology. A highly sensitive destemmer and the gentle transport of the grapes by means of a specialized container, cuvon, which runs on rails, prove to be very gentle on the grapes and preserve their high quality. VINEYARD<br />The vineyards are located on a southeast-facing slope 220 to 260 meters above sea level. The microclimate there is very warm. The soil is loamy with limestone gravel and a layer of sand, which enables good heat storage capacity and drainage.<br /><br />VINIFICATION<br />The grapes undergo mash fermentation in a wooden fermentation barrel at 28 °C with a three-week maceration period. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in barriques for twelve months before being lightly filtered and bottled.<br /><br />TASTING NOTES<br />- intense ruby red<br />- intense nose with cinnamon and undergrowth notes, fresh forest berries such as blackberry and blackcurrant;<br />- strong but fine-grained tannin; powerful with a lot of smoothness, fine tobacco and licorice notes on the finish, elegant finish;<br /><br />RECOMMENDATION<br />Goes well with a juicy beef tagliata with arugula and parmesan shavings, venison fillet with walnut crust and red cabbage, braised beef roulades with potato noodles and flavorful cheese.<br /><br />
