Sauvignon Blanc Cloudy Bay...

Sauvignon Blanc Cloudy Bay...

CLOUDY BAY
SAUVIGNON
Pure, fresh and vibrant

With its extraordinary aromas, Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc was an instant success when it appeared on the market in 1985. This wine put New Zealand on the global wine
map and made Sauvignon Blanc famous as a single varietal wine. More than 80 expressions of 98 parcels are used in its creation, with yields kept low to produce a wine
with a concentrated aroma. The winemaking process aims to preserve and enhance the fresh, fruity notes, using selected yeasts and stainless steel vats, along with a small
percentage of barrel fermentation to give structure but without hinting of oak.
TASTING NOTES
Intense and vibrant, with aromas of ripe passion fruit, white peach and a hint of lime. The palate is deliciously concentrated and tropical, with saline notes providing
structure, while the passion fruit and vibrant citrus acidity bring balance.
Luce 750ml Tenuta Luce 2022

Luce 750ml Tenuta Luce 2022

Climatic trend
A cold, dry winter ushered in the 2022 growing year. Vine development was accompanied by a spring that delivered very little rain, then temperatures rose rapidly starting
in May. Flowering took place in the final week of May and early June, under ideal conditions. Dry, warm weather continued through much of the summer, conditions that
enabled the vines to achieve optimal equilibrium and to arrive with a perfect canopy-crop balance at veraison, in early August. Two periods of heavy rainfall, each of 30mm,
arrived between late July and 16 August, bringing relief to the vines and starting the final phase of ripening. Harvest began on 28 August, slightly early to preserve the
grapes' crisp acidities and generous aromatic precursors. The clusters were small in size but perfectly ripe, sound, and healthy. September brought optimal conditions,
and temperatures cooled mid-month on, bringing significant day-night temperatures ranges, which encouraged peak ripeness in the Sangiovese.

Tasting notes
Luce 2022 appears a shimmering ruby red. The nose is redolent of crisp, red berryfruit, such as recurrent and pomegranate, infused with delicate floral essences. The
entry is immediately enfolding on the palate, where ripe, supple tannins perfectly complement a crisp, vibrant mid-palate, continuing through to a full-flavoured, near-
endless finish.

Grapes
Merlot, Sangiovese
Harvest period
Merlot: August 28, Sangiovese: September 10
Sugar at harvest
Merlot: 260 g/l, Sangiovese: 255 g/l
Total acidity at harvest
Merlot: 6,75 g/l, Sangiovese: 6,88 g/l
pH at harvest
Merlot: 3.33, Sangiovese: 3.30
Fermentation vessels
Concrete
FERMENTATION TEMPERATURE
28°C
FERMENTATION LENGHT
12 days
maceration on the skins
22 days
MALOLACTIC FERMENTATION
Barriques
MATURATION VESSELS
Barriques: 80% new, 20% once-used
MATURATION LENGHT
24 months
bottling
November 2024
Luce 750ml Tenuta Luce 2019

Luce 750ml Tenuta Luce 2019

LUCE 2019

The 2019 vintage was late and balanced. After a cold and sunny winter, the spring was characterised by low average temperatures and high rainfall, which allowed the
creation of important water reserves in the soil. This situation of low light and rainfall, mainly concentrated in the month of May, resulted in a slight delay of 10 days in the
vine's vegetative cycle. Flowering was evenly completed in the first week of June. The season then continued with a hot summer, without any particular heat peaks, with
some rainfall between the end of July and the beginning of August, which ensured a vigorous and efficient leaf apparatus. The mild temperatures in September and a good
level of hydration of the soils favoured a slow and regular ripening of the grapes, resulting in perfectly ripe tannins with high aromatic intensity and freshness. The harvest
began in sunny weather on 12 September with the first Merlot grapes, and continued with the Sangiovese in late September and early October. The wines are structured,
showing balance, power and great ageing potential.

Tasting Notes: Luce 2019 shows an intense ruby red colour. The nose impresses with floral hints of violets and roses, accompanied by red fruits of raspberries and sweet
spices. In the mouth it is balanced and elegant, with an almost creamy texture, supported by silky, well-integrated tannins. The persistent finish lingers on spicy notes.

Grapes: Merlot, Sangiovese

Analytical Data:
Alcohol: 14.40% Vol.
Total acidity: 6.03 g/l
PH: 3,49
