Le Serre Nuove 2021...

Le Serre Nuove 2021...

Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia
BOLGHERI DOC RED

Born from the same vines, under the same sky, from the same philosophy. Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is a proud second wine, it has the gift of anticipating the character
of the vintage of the estate's flagship wine and, at the same time, of offering its own point of view. The joy of its sip evolves over time, adding to the energy of youth the charm
of maturity.

Winemaker's notes

'The offspring of a vintage that proved to be of great level and satisfaction, Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia 2021 reveals the good tannic quality and well-dosed concentration
that characterises the wines of this vintage.
In the glass it flaunts a brilliant ruby red colour, with the usual purple highlights. The nose is fresh, with hints of pink pepper and cypress berries, reminiscent of the
Mediterranean bush.
On the palate the wine is elegant, with nice acidity and a persistent, savoury finish that invites a second sip.'
Olga Fusari - Winemaker - April 2023

E NOLOGO TASTING NOTES
50% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, 11% Petit Verdot Alc. 14.5% vol.

THE CLIMATE OF 2021
The 2021 vintage began with a rainy and mild winter that allowed the soil's water reserves to be replenished. After a dry March, budding took place in the first two weeks of
April. The gradual rise in temperatures, with normal rainfall, allowed the shoots to grow steadily, leading to flowering in excellent conditions at the end of May. From June
onwards, fully summery weather set in, with slightly higher than average temperatures and almost no rainfall, leading to veraison in the last week of July. The drought lasted
throughout August and September, but the spring rains and deep Bolgheri soils allowed the vines to avoid too much water stress, creating the conditions for small, highly
concentrated grapes with high quality potential. September was warm and sunny with no rain, allowing an 'à la carte' harvest to express the full quality potential of each
individual vineyard. he harvest of the reds took place substantially during the month of September, with the Merlot in the first two weeks and the other vines on the estate
from 13 September, concluding on 1 October.

VINIFICATION AND FINING
Harvesting was carried out by hand in 15 kg crates and the grapes were sorted on a double sorting table before and after destemming and then subjected to a soft crushing.
Since 2016, optical sorting has been introduced in addition to manual sorting to further increase the quality of the selection. Each variety and each plot was vinified
separately. Alcoholic fermentation took place partly in stainless steel vats, partly in cement vats, at temperatures between 22-28°C for a fortnight followed by maceration for
approximately 10-15 days. Malolactic fermentation took place in steel vats, after which the wines were transferred to barriques (25% new and 75% second-passage). The
wine remained in barriques in the Ornellaia cellars at a controlled temperature for a period of about 15 months. After the first 12 months it was blended and then reintroduced
into the barriques where it spent a further 3 months. The wine remained in the bottle for six months before release.
Yu Gin 70cl 43%

Yu Gin 70cl 43%

RIVIERA
This is the spontaneous juniper of the Maremma coast. With a savoury taste, it is influenced by the volcanic soil, the altitude of 200 metres and the sea wind. PH 6.4. 25%
of the blend.

ALCOHOL CONTENT
45° balances each cocktail.

CHIANTI
This is the juniper harvested in the Chianti hills. Thanks to its altitude of almost 600 metres above sea level, it is the juniper with the most balsamic notes. PH 8.3. 10% of
the blend.

DISTILLATION
This takes place at low temperature in a discontinuous copper pot still. This is followed by two months' rest before bottling.

VALTIBERINE
This is our high altitude juniper. It is in fact those almost 800 metres, combined with the area's loamy and sandy soil, that give it its unmistakable hint of balance and
sobriety. It is the most common juniper in our blend. PH 7.7. 65% of the blend.

TASTING NOTES
As clear as any good London Dry Gin, it surprises the nose with a strong scent of wild juniper immediately softened by dog rose and herbaceous hints of helichrysum. In the
mouth, the juniper explodes overbearingly, to which is added the rose and the balsamic note of helichrysum. Immediate is the spicy coriander which fades into a persistent
finish of slightly citrus notes.
